PROPHECY
What will happen to the false prophets: – People who prophecy on their own will and by saying God said it. “Thou shall not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain. For the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.”(Ex 20:7) prophet. Jermiah turned down the false prophecy of Hananiah the prophet and said he would die this year. False prophet died the same year according to the prophecy of Prophet. Jermiaḥ, (Jermiah 28:10-17). The false prophets will find their way to the lake of fire and brimstone. Rev 21:8. Let us be careful in prophesying.
There is nothing wrong in going to a genuine prophet to know God’s plan in our life. “Despise not prophesying”. (1 Thes 5:20)
Prophecy is a most coveted precious gift given to the Children of God. Prophecy has to be carefully said without adding or subtracting what God actually says. Prophesying anything which God does not tell will incur the wrath of God.
Prophesying within the Church: “He that prophesieth edifieth the Church” (1 cor 14:4) Today we need genuine prophets who will bring out prophecy, edifying the church. False prophecy will split the church. “Greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying” (I cor 14:5). Tongues + Interpretation Prophecy. = “But if all prophecy and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all. And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth……….Let the Prophets speak two or three and let the other judge. If anything be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace. For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted. And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. For God is not the author of confusion, but peace, as in all churches of the saints. Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy and forbid not to speak with tongues. Let all things be done decently and in order” (1 cor 14:24, 25, 29-33, 39, 40).
Let the churches pay heed to the word of God and become Biblical and Apostolic churches as in the first century.
Prophecy within our limits: “let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith” (Rom 12:6) we come across the major Prophets and the minor prophets in the old Testaments. Prophets who had a long duration of prophecy or wrote volumes of prophecies were considered as major prophets like Prophet Moses, Prophet Isaiah, Prophet Jeremiah etc.., Minor Prophecies like those given by Prophet Joel, Prophet Obadiah, Prophet Nahum etc.,. has a small duration of prophesying or wrote a very small book containing prophetic utterances.
One must prophesy according to the Vision given to him. Going beyond one’s own limit is dangerous. It is here where a person backslides or loses the grace of prophesying. Let us spend more time in praying and meditating the scriptures. Then automatically faith will be generated within you. Let the gift of prophecy be kindled to the maximum limit.
Obey the Prophesy: “Despise not prophesying” (1 Thes 5:20) Kings who obeyed the prophets won the war. On the other hand, kings who disobeyed the prophets lost the battle and brought ruin to their country. Once a young couple came to a man of God for prayer. The man of God during prayer said to the newly wedded girl to ask the Lord to grant her long life. The husband got much annoyed that such a prophecy be told to his wife. So he abused the man of God and went away. After a few days as this couple were coming after seeing a movie in an auto, they had an accident. The newly wedded girl died. The young man cried and came back to the man of God and begged for pardon! Alas it was too late! Let us not despise prophesying. Dearly beloved readers, it is my heart’s desire that we come very close to God with the help of genuine prophets. Today there is no dearth of prophesy. In many places people prophecy as they desire, saying that I see a black cat or white dove or they get the details of the family problems through other source, and give out wrong prophecy. Woe to such false prophets!
A young boy and girl in love went to a prophetess. The sister who prophesied said that your marriage is according to His will. The young lovers were extremely happy. They went to another prophetess living in another place. This prophetess said that your marriage is not according to God’s plan, you should split immediately. Both were confused and heartbroken as a result of prophesy. Deceiving spirit is very common today. Let us be careful these days.
