JULY MONTH MESSAGE
THE PRAYER LIFE OF JESUS
JESUS CHRIST has set before us a prayer life pattem that we should follow. We are expected to follow the foot Steps of our Lord. (1 Pet 2:21) and if there was a person for whom prayer was not necessary then it could only be JESUS. But JESUS himself prayed and showed us the way we should follow. Jesus prayed for several hours continuously and that was the success of His ministry. After prayer JESUS went about doing good. (Acts 10:38). But today after prayer we see people doing evil instead of good. They have time to gossip, pass sarcastic comments about others, spend hours in vain talks. But when they come for prayer the remark is made that prayer should be short and sweet. How sad it is, why don’t we stop doing unwanted things and spend our time usefully with the Lord.
Now let us see the prayer life of our Lord JESUS.
FASTING PRAYER: “And when he had fated forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungered”.(Mt 4:2, Lu 4:2)
JESUS commenced His ministry with fasting prayer and JESUS not only preached but also practiced it. During forty days of fasting JESUS never went about preaching. But waited in prayer and fasting. It has become a fashion now a day to see certain people undertaking a forty days fasting. We need to go to a separate place for fasting prayer. On the other hand we can see these people with a six o’clock face everywhere. We should stay in a particular place and observe forty days of fasting prayer. We should be seen only by God and he will reward us openly. Men of God like Prophet Moses fasted for forty days twice to receive Ten Commandments from God. In our country Sadhu Sundar Singh fasted for forty days and became to be known as one of the greatest saints of our country.
Fasting prayer is very essential in a deliverance ministry. Don’t go for a mini..ry without fasting prayer. JESUS advised his disciples “Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting”. (Mat 17:21 Mk 9:29) In the modern translation of the Bible, the word “fasting” has been removed. Mere fasting will not help us. But fasting and prayer is very important. Let us spend several hours on our knees during fasting prayer. Our master fasted and prayed, how about you?
ALL NIGHT PRAYER: “And it came to pass in those days, that, he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God”. (Lu 6:12). We see that our dear Lord JESUS CHRIST spend all night in prayer. Throughout the night JUSUS was praying. No tea break. The all night prayer of late has lost its meaning. Having 2 or more messages, too many songs etc, with very little time for prayer. The devil laughs at this kind of all-night prayer. Let us follow the King of Kings, JESUS CHRIST, who prayed throughout the night. Spend the night at the feet of JESUS in prayer. Pray as a family, cry out to God for all your needs. Certainly you will be richly blessed when you follow the master’s pattern of praying all night. An all-night prayer lasting hardly an hour or two will not be enough. Magicians practice witch craft at night especially after mid-night. We can break the satanic bondage in an effective All night prayer. Jesus prayed! Prayed!!
Prayed!!! Throughout the night. Follow JESUS and be a powerful prayerful Christian. EARLY MORNING PRAYER: “And in the morning rising up a great while before day he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed” (Mk 1:35).
It is true that JESUS began his ministry with forty days prayer. But yet every day, it was his routine nature to go out for prayer early in the morning. We eat well every day to keep ourselves healthy and strong. But we do pray eamestly everyday early in the morning so that we could go through the day with His presence. Let us begin the day by beseeching the face of the Lord. God desires His children to talk to Him. Jesus has set us a perfect example of praying early in the morning. Jesus began the day with prayer. How many hours a day do we spend with the Lord? Do we give first preference to God? A true believer will begin the day with prayer.
INDIVIDUAL PRAYER LIFE: “And when he had sent them away, he departed into mountain to pray” (Mk 6:46 Lu 5:15)
Several thousand came to hear JESUS, but JESUS after His ministry sent the multitudes away and went to the mountain to pray. After any ministry we must spend time alone with the God in prayer. Praying alone is vitally important for a victorious Christian life. JESUS always spent time in prayer and went about doing good. Do we spend hours alone with God or man? Let us follow the Lord and find time for prayer individually.
“who in the days of His flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him, that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared”. (Heb 5:7). This verse clearly tells us how JESUS prayed. He cried aloud and prayed. JESUS prayerful life brought blessings to the multitudes who came to him. Let us cry and pray to God.
PRAYED WITH AGONY: “And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat was as it were drops of blood falling down to the ground.” (Lu 22:44) Billions of people would have prayed but yet not one would had the experience of the blood coming out as sweat. The prayer of JESUS is unique. He has been broken for the sins of the world. He prayed with agony. We may have agony but will blood come out of our sweat pores. JESUS was a man whose prayers brought out blood. According to Science, when a person’s agony reaches a climax blood comes out as sweat. Can we also cry out in agony for others and pray for them. Yes, the prayer life of JESUS was indeed unique!
Jesus has set us an example of a perfect prayer life. Let us follow JESUS in our prayer life.
