PROPHECY
(…Continued from the previous issue)
People will respect a prophet; salute him and whenever we see a prophet we get the fear of God in us. Surely a true prophet should be respected and has a good name in his locality.
Secondly, we see that prophet, “all that he saith cometh surely to pass” (1 sam 9:6) A prophet should never tell lies. No word that came out of the mouth of Prophet Samuel has failed. Every prophecy that comes out of the mouth of a prophet must be fulfilled. “And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world, which came to pass in the days of Claudius Ceasar” (Act 11:28) Prophecy must be fulfilled. The mouth of a prophet should always speak holy matters. “Holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.”(2 Peter 1:21) only through, Holy prophets can heavenly words come out of their mouth. Only when a prophet gives out 100% true prophecy all the time then people will come to him regularly and introduce this prophet to many others also.
Thirdly, regarding a prophet, “Peradvanture he can shew us our way that we should go”. (I sam 9:6) only a prophet can reveal our future, our going and coming. We see the future king Saul goes to Prophet Samuel to enquire about his lost donkey. Dear readers, there is nothing wrong in going to a prophet, to know about our future; certainly we are better than donkeys. But we should not think it as fortune telling. We can prayerfully ask from the prophets regarding our future marriage plan, business affairs, family matters, higher education and about our future life. “Despise not prophesying”. (I Thes 5:20) In ancient days prophets advised the kings in times of war. Even the kings will ask the prophets to reveal the plan of God, whether he can go to battle or not, whether he will win or not, only after getting the reply of God through the prophets the king will proceed.
We should be careful about false prophets “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep clothing. But inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit; neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them” (Mt 7:15-20)
By judging the life of a prophet we can clearly say whether he is true or false prophet, with the help of the above verse we can find out the false prophets. Let us praise God for the genuine prophets in our midst.
“My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house”. (Num 12:7). Here we see that God gives a wonderful testimony about a prophet. He is faithful in all my house. God should give a testimony about a person like this. “The spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God” (Rom 8:16). Blessed is a person who receives a testimony from God such a person will be very much honoured. A nation will always honour a righteous man. Only by seeing the honesty in us God can lift us up in all ways. Only when a man is faithful, Holy Spirit can give a testimony about him.
“He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much; and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man’s, who shall give you that which is your own? (Luke 16:10-12)
