KINGDOM'S MESSAGE
Greetings in the name of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ. “Behold I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done” (Rev 22:12) Yes dear ones in Christ, Jesus is coming soon! The things happening in this world are clear signs of His coming (Read Matt 24). So what is our part before His coming? Jesus said in Matthew 24:14 ” And this Gospel of the Kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come”. When Jesus was in this world, He proclaimed the message of God’s Kingdom and the same is expected from us. We need to imitate Jesus Christ as apostle Paul did, that’s the desire of our Lord. So, our part is to preach the kingdom’s message. We need not go and preach something out of scriptures, but the same message of kingdom which our Lord Jesus preached has to be preached to all mankind. For it is better to spend time in meditating on the kingdom of God rather than bringing in new doctrines into church today.
Today we Christians fail to maintain a testimonial life before others, simply letting down the name of our Lord in shame. The main reason behind this is we act over righteous and start judging others, often forgetting our life. God is not pleased with this sort of act, Jesus said in Matthew 7:1-3, “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way as you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use it, it will be measured to you”. As we read in the beginning, Jesus is going to reward everyone for our acts, no one will be exempted from this (i.e., from spiritual leaders to the unbelievers). We often fail to recognize, that Jesus Christ is the King and not us, Psalm 10:16 says “The Lord is King forever and ever” and Psalm 9:7 says, “The Lord reigns for ever; he has established His throne for judgement”. Yes, He is the King and He has gone to establish a place for you and me in Heaven; and this is the message of His Kingdom. We are going to meditate the steps involved in preaching the Gospel of Kingdom.
There are 3 phases in proclaiming the message of His Kingdom, they are, (i) Learning (ii) Practicing (iii) Proclaiming. Learning God’s Message: Anyone pursuing a course can never say that he wants to write the exams without learning, if he does so, it’s the most foolish act. In the same way, we can’t just go and preach the word of God without knowing the whereabouts of the truth in it. A wise man is one who does things wisely out of abundance of his knowledge. So how did he become wise? It’s by the accumulation of knowledge, which is the learning phase. God never want His child to be a fool, rather He gives him wisdom and knowledge to excel in all his endeavours. It’s always good to learn from the scriptures before we go and preach Kingdom’s message; apart from this we need to wait upon the Lord, so that we can receive the right direction in our ministry. Many a time, ministers of God are misleading by their virtual knowledge of God’s word and the result is, they are easily deceived by satan (Please read II Tim 4:3). We need to be firmly rooted in the word of God.
Learn to be intimate with God! A wise Christian is one who is closely intimated with God. We need to walk with God always, so that we can learn more about him. When Jesus was on this world, He taught His disciples and all others about the kingdom of God with power and authority, do you know why? God knew mankind need someone who can teach the in-depths of the Kingdom of Heaven so that they can understand the purpose of living; Hence God sent His only son who knows everything about His kingdom. It’s our turn to learn the message of His Kingdom which is written in God’s word and preach it to the world. Freely you received, freely you give! So start meditating up on the Kingdom of God and tell all mankind.
Practicing God’s Message: Practice makes a man perfect! It is a worldly saying, but it goes well with the scriptures. Many a times we find students who score very good marks in their theory papers, but when you ask them to do it practically they struggle; it’s because they are book-worm! Many Christians are like these students, they read the word of God and if you ask them any question they just answer in no time, but when you checkout their life, its miserable; it’s because they don’t put the word of God into practice in their personal life. My God wants His children to practice His words. Take the life of Daniel, Daniel 6:10 says, “..he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did a foretime”. Here we read even when the decree was made to worship the king alone, Daniel continued to open his window towards Jerusalem and worshipped the Lord Almighty, because he has practiced all his life. Before sharing the Gospel of Kingdom practice it in your personal life. If a believer fails to practice the word of God, he evokes the anger of God. When we don’t practice God’s word and try to proclaim the word of God, our ministry will definitely be fruitless and soon you will be in danger of backsliding. Be extremely cautious before proclaiming the Kingdom’s message, since you are directly fighting against the kingdom of satan. So preach what you practice, if not don’t preach!
Our life is the practice ground before we take on the main arena of proclaiming the Kingdom’s message. Practice is nothing but putting things practically in our daily life from the word of God. Scripture says in Matthew 12:34, “For out of overflow of the heart and mouth speaks”, that is to say, what you have practiced will be revealed in your ministry. So it’s better to practice God’s message of Kingdom, rather than practicing man made doctrines which is of no use. Remember our Lord Jesus as a child learnt the scriptures and He practiced teaching the word when He was twelve years at the temple in Jerusalem well before the start of His ministry (Luke 2:41-52). That’s how Jesus grew in wisdom and stature and in favour with God and man (Luke 2:52). When Jesus himself practiced before His ministry, why not we?
Proclaiming God’s Message: Before Jesus was taken up to Heaven, this was the final instruction He gave us, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witness in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” (Act 1:8), yes as the verse reads, be a witness! Jesus expects every one of us, to witness the Gospel of Kingdom which he preached. Yes, proclaiming God’s message is nothing but witnessing or testifying the works of His Kingdom. When a believer is said to have practiced the Kingdom of God’s message in his life he is ready to proclaim it!
Now is that we have learnt and practiced about the kingdom, how can we go about proclaiming? When you read Acts chapter 2, a timid and uneducated disciple of Jesus, named Peter, when received the power of Holy Ghost, started proclaiming the message of God’s Kingdom boldly with authority (Acts 2:14). Peter is a man who learnt directly from our Lord Himself but to put the things into reality, he didn’t have the courage to proclaim what he has learnt until he received the power of Holy Ghost on the day of Pentecost. So as to say, once a believer is filled by the power of Holy spirit, he can start proclaiming the message of Kingdom with authority., as it says in John 14:26, “But the counsellor, the Holy Spirit, whom the father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you”. So, what you are waiting for to proclaim about His Kingdom? The Holy Ghost will teach you and tell you what you have to speak to the masses. So proclaim His Kingdom’s message!
Bible says in Acts 2:17, “In the last days, God says, I will pour out my spirit on all people..” yes dear ones Holy Ghost is ready to fill everyone and make you ready for the work of expansion of His Kingdom. Are you ready to spread this message of Kingdom? Just ask God to fill you with the Holy Ghost, for He is ready to fill you with His power, so receive the power of the Holy Ghost at this very moment.
Amen
