Man has a beast like nature because of jealousy in his heart. Jealously cannot bear the progress of other people. My children have not come up in studies or progressed in life but other’s children have studied well and are coming up in life. This results in jealousy. Jealousy stirs up hatred for a person and thereby plans how to get rid of a person. When one allows jealousy to grow in him, he will resort to destroy other people through witchcraft. When we read Galatians 5:19-21, we find envy i.e. jealousy in the list of works of the flesh.

     JEALOUSY GENERATES HATRED: Cain and Abel brought offering unto God. Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering. Because of this, Cain developed hatred. God spoke to Cain regarding his hatred (Gen 4:6, 7). When Cain found that his offering was rejected by God, he still never repented for his sins but developed jealously towards Abel. As a result of jealousy Cain killed Abel. The fire of jealousy motivated Cain to commit this heinous crime. Look at that sad event that jealousy has brought.

     RACHEL’S JEALOUSY: Rachel was barren without a child. But her elder sister Leah had many children, Gen 30:1 says that Rachel had envied (Jealousy) Leah. Even today many barren woman look with envy at woman with children. As a result of this they trouble others children. Let us not be jealous as Rachel but instead be like Hannah who cried in the presence of God and got Samuel.

     THE JEALOUSLY OF JOSEPH BROTHERS: Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age (Gen 37:3). As a result of this love of Israel for Joseph, his brothers hated him more as a result of jealousy (Gen 37:11). Jealousy moved his brothers to cast him into a pit without water (Gen 37:24). Finally they sold their own brother Joseph as one would sell an animal (Gen 37:28). Jealousy hardens the heart of a person.

     JEALOUSY OF SAUL: Saul could not bear David’s fame in the battle field glory that ought to come to Saul, had gone to David. Thus Saul envied David (1 Sam 18: 6-9). Bitterness in the heart took deep roots. Many times Saul attempted to kill David. As jealousy grew in Saul, he lost the power of the Holy Spirit in him. The Spirit of jealousy is the agent of the devil. JESUS will never be with a person who has the spirit of jealousy. The Spirit of jealousy will wipe away anyone who comes in contact with it; Jealousy will weaken the bones. We can never go to heaven with the Spirit of jealousy.

     JEALOUSY OF THE JEWS: Pilate knew that out of envy they handed over JESUS to him (Mark 15:9). The high priests were very jealous on seeing JESUS performing miracles and winning people to him. The high priest had not witnessed one miracle in their ministry hence they envied the ministry of JESUS more and more. My dear servants of God don’t be discouraged when you are involved in deliverance ministry. If JESUS has encountered opposition due to jealousy you will face likewise. God will certainly judge the people who stand against deliverance ministry.

     JEALOUSY AMONG SERVANTS OF GOD: Some indeed preach Christ even out of envy and strife and some also of good will (Philip 1:15). When we examine this verse we find people preach out of jealousy. Ministry that seek money and fame, continues on the foundation of jealousy will certainly collapse. A ministry which is guided by the Holy Spirit will stand for ever. Let us do the ministry which God has given us joyfully.

     Hatred, Strife, anger are the roots of jealousy. Let us put on the mind of Christ and shun the works of the devil. When we tarry in prayer we can escape from the clutches of jealousy as God saved Daniel from the lion’s den and Jealous people.
