PROPHECY
Prophesying is very common in a public meeting these days. “Sister you have come with much tears”, certainly in every meeting there will be sisters with tears due to many problems. Every meeting you have many sisters to come to receive divine comfort. Today people blurt out so many things under the pretext of prophesying without really having the gift. The following common prophecies such us “There is a young man without a job”, “There is a parent, here who is heartbroken as their daughter is yet to be married”, “There is a brother here who is sinking in debt”, “There is a sister who has failed in her studies”, “There is a sister worried about her future”, These prophecies are common in mass meetings. I am sure on the day of judgement such false prophets will find themselves in the lake of fire and brimstone. Woe to such false prophets (Rev 21:8)
We see in the Holy Bible how one prophet cheated another prophet. The details are given below:
A certain prophet who came from Judah to Bethel and stood against Jeroboam the king had a very sad end. “Now there dwelt an old prophet in Bethel: and his sons came and told him all the works that the man of God had done that day in Bethel; the words which he had spoken unto the king, them they told also to their father. And their father said unto them; what way went, he? For his sons had seen what way the man of God went, which came from Judah. And he said unto his sons, saddle me the ass. So they saddled him the ass; and he rode thereon. And went after the man of God, and found in him sitting under an Oak: and he said unto him, As thou the man of God that camest from Judah? And he said, I am. Then he said unto him, come home with me, and eat bread. And he said, I may not return with thee, nor go in with thee, neither will I eat bread nor drink water with thee in this place. For it was said to me the word of the Lord. Thou shall eat no bread nor drink water there, nor turn again to go by the way that thou camest. He said unto him, I am a prophet also as thou art; and an angel spake unto me by the word of the Lord, saying, Bring him back with thee into thine house, that he may eat bread and drink water. But he lied unto him. So he went back with him, and did eat bread in his house and drank water. And it came to pass, as they sat at the table, that the word of the Lord came unto the prophet that brought him back; And he cried unto the man of God that came from Judah, saying, Thus saith the Lord, For as much as thou hast disobeyed the mouth of the Lord, and hast not kept the commandment which the Lord thy God commanded thee, But camest back, and hast eaten bread and drunk water in the place, of the which the lord did say with thee, Eat no bread, and drink no water; thy carcase shall not come unto thee sepulchre of thy fathers. And it came to pass, after he had eaten bread, and after he had drunk, that he saddled for him the ass to wit, for the prophet whom he had brought back. And when he was gone, a lion met him by the way, and slew him; and his carcase was cast in the way, and the ass stood by it, the lion also stood by the carcase. (1 kings 13:11-24)
We have a clear picture of an elder prophet giving false prophesy to junior prophet. As a result of false prophecy the young prophet goes away from the will of God and has a tragic end.
“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God; because many false prophets are gone out into the world” (1 John 4:1).
750 “And he said unto him, behold now, there is in this city a man of God, and he is an honourable man; all that he saith cometh surely to pass; now let us go thither; peradventure he can shew us our way that we should go”(I sam 9:6). Saul went with his fathers servant in search of a donkey. At this time the servant speaks to his Saul about the prophet Samuel. Prophet Samuel is called as a man of God in this city. Moreover he is considered a great man in this city prophets can be called as a man of God. Today a man who is living in sin when he comes to a public meeting, he is introduced as a man of God. How sad it is. “He that saith unto the wicked, Thou art righteous, him shall the people curse, nations shall abhor him”(Prov 24:24).
