APRIL MONTH MESSAGE
TITHE TO WHOM?
Ever since man was created he gave an offering to God from his income. Before the invention of money, people gave in kind i.e., from the produce of the land. I have preached in several churches across the country. One common prayer request that comes to me is that people are in debt. Many have said, “Brother I have faithfully given my tithe yet I am unable to come out of debt”. The sorrowful voice of believers ruined in debt is heard everywhere. Many believers backslide as they are unable to come out of debt. They fall into sinful ways.
“Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it” (Malachi 3:10). According to the above verse one comes to the house of the Lord and gives his tithe. The Pastors of the Churches are careful to see whether his members give their correct tithes or not. The Pastor must see if the believers, who are prompt in giving their tithes, have really received a blessing or not? One who has given tithes should see if he has received the blessing according to the above verse. It is really sad to see the believers who give their tithes are in pathetic situation. A believer must taste the blessing of his tithe, i.e., should examine why one is not blessed in spite of his tithe giving. Everyone that gives his tithe must be blessed according to the above verse. One day a man stood in the weighing machine. He dropped a coin hoping to receive the weight card. Even after dropping several coins he could not get his weight card. Then he looked up and saw the board there, which said
“Machine not working”. What is the use of dropping coins in a machine not working? Never give your tithes to places which God has not recognized and ruin yourself. Before giving tithe ensure whether your tithe takes you to Heaven? This is important. When God recognises your tithes immediately the window of Heaven will open to shower His blessing upon you. God will lead you and your family. You will never lack. anything. At the end of the month you will have a balance amount in your hand.
“And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering” (Gen 4:4). But God rejected Cain and his offering. First God should recognize us. Only then God will accept your offertory. God recognized Cornelius and his offering. So when God saw the offertory of Cornelius coming before His throne. He sent His Angel to his residence.
Have our tithe and offering reached the throne of God (Acts 10:4). The Heaven will open and you will receive showers of blessings in your house.
“When thou hast made an end of tithing all the tithes of thine increase the third year, which is the year of tithing and hast given it unto the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless and the widow that they may eat within they gates and be filled. Then thou shalt say before the Lord thy God. I have bought away the hallowed things out of mine house and also have given them unto the Levite and unto the stranger to the fatherless and to the widow, according to all thy commandments neither have I forgotten them” (Deut 26:12,13). Now we have seen the method of giving the tithe. To whom should we give our tithe? To the Levite, that is those who are serving God. Levites were chosen to serve God. We can give our tithes to those who are doing Gospel work. From our tithe we should give to the stranger, fatherless and the widows. After you have given like the above verse you can go and say to God, I have done everything according to Deut 26:12. My friend, keep your hand in your heart. Can you the say, “I have done according to Deut 26:12 I have not transgressed the commandment of God”? Remember when you have given your tithes according to Deut 26:12. Then God will open the window of Heaven and bless you and your family.
